YMCA Gets New Look, Inside and Out

Red Bank, NJ (Oct. 6, 2011) – Area residents are invited to experience our newly renovated Family Health & Wellness Center, 166 Maple Ave., Red Bank.

“We are pleased to open our new doors and welcome everyone in our community to a more modern Y that has been redesigned to better meet the needs of today’s busy family,” said Rich Ayres, the Y’s Interim President and CEO and Chief Financial Officer.

A community hub in Red Bank for 137 years, the 41-year-old facility has undergone a complete transformation with a state-of-the art wellness center featuring more than 90 cardio and strength training machines, two new group fitness studios, expanded adult locker rooms with new steam rooms and new HVAC systems in the pool areas and family locker rooms.

To encourage kids to be more physically active, the new Youth and Teen Center is equipped with the latest in X-er game fitness technology including Wii game consoles and a Jump-Q platform along with cardio and strength training machines especially designed for kids. For younger children, the Child Watch room has more than doubled in size allowing more open space for active play.

A key element of the redesigned Y is new space for people to interact and enjoy time together beyond the fitness areas, Ayres said, including a welcoming lobby with coffee bar and free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating areas and a lounge area on the first level.

The exterior of the building was also spruced up with landscaping improvements by Lastella Bros. Lawn Care & Landscaping and a seasonal display by Sickles Market. Employees from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Red Bank volunteered their time planting shrubs, flowers and trees along the front of the building.

The project was designed by Kaplan Gaunt DeSantis Architects of Red Bank and managed by Charles B. Hembling & Son Builders/Construction Managers, Shrewsbury.

Tours of the newly renovated facility are ongoing and families are welcome. For more information, please call our Welcome Center at (732) 741-2504.
